Raymond "Ray" V. Henderson, 46, of Stillwater, Oklahoma passed away on Monday December 26, 2016. Arrangements are under the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.
Ray was born October 8, 1970, in Modesto, California. With honor and distinction, he proudly served his beloved country for over 25 years. Ray began his career on May 22, 1989 enlisting as a combat medic in the US Army. Stationed in Germany, Ray enjoyed his first assignment giving him a love of travel. Oklahoma became his home after the Army relocated him to Fort Sill. He broadened his military experience serving as a flight medic in the Air National Guard. In August of 2000, Ray joined the Army National Guard. His talents extended beyond the military with successful careers as a sales representative and phlebotomist. Ray was a proud Master Mason of the Frontier Masonic Lodge #46 of Stillwater and the Enid Masonic Lodge #80. He returned to active duty status for the National Guards Recruiting Command in 2004. As part of the Armys Stability Transition Team, Ray deployed to Afghanistan with the Armys 1st Cavalry Division in 2011-2012. Ray inspired and mentored soldiers throughout his career. Recruiting and serving as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer was more than a job for him, it was an opportunity to show the true meaning of "all soldiers are entitled to outstanding leadership".
Ray married the love of his life Kendal Taylor in 2009. They enjoyed traveling the world, playing golf, vacations with friends, and cheering on the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Ray and Kendal frequently hosted friends and family for cookouts and special events. Any time of the year Ray could be found on the golf course with Kendal or grabbing lunch with friends. No matter the situation Rays enormous heart was always on display. He listened and offered solid advice and guidance. Undeniably, he had the brightest smile in the room and brought joy to many hearts. He knew how to light up your day with one of his quick one-liner jokes or clever signature catch phrases that everyone will remember for years to come. Through the many lives he touched and inspired, Rays bright light and caring soul will live on.
Ray is survived by his loving wife Kendal Henderson of 7 years. Also, his parents Jerry and Diane Henderson, siblings Tim Hendersonand Charity Hines, nephews Dustin and Evan, niece Melissa and Grandmother Maxine Henderson. Ray is preceded in death by his niece Christina Henderson.
Rays service will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 2pm at the Stillwater Bible Church followed directly with burial services at Fairlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors, Wounded Warriors Family support or Mission 22 charities. Ray will be greatly missed, and not a day will pass that we dont think of him and he will forever be in our hearts.
