U.S. Army Major Rellon Van Lore (Retired), 80, of Stillwater, went to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Doris on April 17, 2011 in Oklahoma City, OK. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and are scheduled for 10:00am Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 8am to 8pm on Tuesday, April 19.
Rellon was born October 17, 1930 to Ray and Gwenneth Baker Lore in Stillwater, OK. He grew up and attended schools in Clinton. After completing his schooling, Rellon proudly joined the United States Army. After a short time in the military, Rellon met and married the love of his life, Doris Ferguson on February 3, 1951 at Camp Polk, Louisiana. Together, Rellon and Doris traveled and resided in many military bases throughout Europe. Rellon spent his military career working as an Engineer. His distinguished military career spanned more than twenty years and included active duty in the Vietnam and Korean Wars, as well as assignments at Fort. Benning, Fort Polk, Fort Leonard Wood, and ended with his retirement at Fort. Lewis, Washington.
After retiring, Rellon and Doris moved back to Stillwater. Rellon was employed as a barber. When he was not working, he enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, shooting skeet competitively, and bowling with Doris, and being an active member in the Stillwater Moose Lodge and the American Legion.
Mr. Lore is survived by; 1 son; Rellon Van Lore, Jr. and wife Susan of Maurice, Louisiana. 3 daughters; Debbie Nobles and husband Farrel of Altus, OK, Kim Sampler and husband Gene of Oklahoma City, OK and Tina Johnson and husband Gregg of Coyle, OK 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. 1 brother; Bill Lore and his wife, Rose. He was preceded in death by; his parents. A brother: Jack. Two sisters: Mary and Adrienne. 1 grandson; Specialist Sonny Gene Sampler.
