Renzo was born into the light of earth on April 27, 1989, in Santa Cruz, California. He was born into the true light joining his Lord, Jesus Christ on February 14, 2023. He was 33 years old.
Renzo lived in Santa Cruz and Ben Lomond, California. He graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School in 2007. In 2013, he moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma and began work for Grimsleys Inc. in January of 2014. He remained with Grimsleys, working as an Account Manager, until the time of his death. He loved his work, especially the opportunity to connect with and serve his clients.
Ren was a skateboarder and surfer, a consumer of knowledge and a connoisseur of delicious food (Think taco trucks, Cool Ranch Doritos, sour gummies, filet mignon, fettuccini alfredo and sushi. He never passed on his Aunt V’s biscuits and gravy - the man loved to eat!) Physical fitness and wellness were an important part of his life journey to stay healthy and feel good.
An avid gamer and enjoyer of anime, particularly loving Fortnite and DBZ. In the past two years, he was ambitious about taking no prisoners while playing Catan with his mom, aunt Vana and cousin Jordan.
Renzo brought an amazing light and energy into the lives of all who knew him. He never met a stranger. Every person was genuinely interesting to him. A master of good conversation, he knew how to be serious or funny, compassionate, or silent in all his interactions. Renzo deeply loved, and was committed to, his family, his mom, his dad, his grandparents, his aunt Vana and his cousin Jordan.
With the words of John 21:25 in mind, Renzo did so many things, that chapters and chapters of his life adventures and experiences could be written. Far more than might be listed here.
Renzo’s memory will be kept alive by his mother, Kerry Phibbs, of Mount Hermon, California, and his father, Hector Rodriguez of Santa Cruz, California; his maternal grandparents, JoAnn and Paul Phibbs of Stillwater, Oklahoma and his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Rodriguez of San Juan, Puerto Rico; his aunt, Vana Phibbs of Stillwater, Oklahoma and uncle Luis (Nelda) Rodriguez of San Juan, Puerto Rico; his cousin, Jordan Phibbs of Stillwater, Oklahoma and cousins Luis Manuel (Lisie) Rodriguez and Carlos Rodriguez. He is also survived by and passionately loved by MANY Phibbs family cousins, aunts, and uncles whose lives were profoundly enriched by his love and friendship. And of course, there are hundreds of friends in Santa Cruz, at Mount Hermon, and in Stillwater who will miss him deeply.
He is proceeded in death by his great grandparents; Luedeen (Harrington) Ellison, Cecil and Georgianna (Hazelbaker) Phibbs; his abuelo, Luis Rodriguez and his beloved aunt, Shannon Phibbs.
A celebration of Renzo’s life will take place at 3:00pm on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at The Range, officiated by Jim Johnson, Leader Minister, Sunnybrook Christian Church.
