Retha Ann (Reynolds) Ventris, 79, a longtime Perkins resident, died December 4, 2022 in Cushing, Oklahoma. Graveside service will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, December 16, 2022 at Perkins Cemetery, Perkins, Oklahoma. Cremation services have been entrusted to Dighton Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.
She was born December 16, 1942, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the daughter of Alva Reynolds and America Clementine (Mercer) Reynolds.
While attending Perkins High School she met the love of her life Davie (Dub) Ventris. They were united in marriage on July 2, 1959, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. To this union they were blessed with three sons and one daughter, Tommy, Terry, Timmy and Angelica. They made their home and raised their family in the Perkins area.
Retha was a faithful member at Freedom Church in Perkins. She was known by many to have a heart of gold always willing to lend a helping hand and care for anyone in need. She always aspired to learn and often her grandchildren thought she was ahead of the times always setting the trend for every occasion.
Retha had many hobbies including gardening, sewing, needlework, painting and crafting. She was a lady of many, many talents. She began singing with her sisters at a very young age (usually over the kitchen sink) and they, together with their brother, created gospel singing group America’s Children. She was a seamstress and enjoyed making costumes and formal dresses for all occasions. She enjoyed entertaining her kids and grandkids with spooky campfire stories, playing card games and tackling difficult jigsaw puzzles.
Survivors include her children, Tommy Ventris and his wife Lottie of Perkins, OK, Terry Ventris and his wife Tammie of Princeton, TX, and Angelica Laurent and her husband Joseph of The Colony, TX; her siblings, Virginia Lowry of Perkins, OK, Warren Reynolds of Salina, KS, Sherry Kucko and husband Jon of Perkins, OK, Myron Reynolds and wife Anne of Perkins, OK, Jerry Reynolds of Perkins, OK and sister-in-law Judy Reynolds of Perkins, OK; her grandchildren, Meghan Crawford and husband Zack, Alexa Ross, Frazier Ventris, Rachel Lambert and husband Jonathan, Leah Mattsson and husband Dustin; and Hannah Laurent; nine great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Dub Ventris; one brother, Leon Reynolds; and a son, Timmy Ventris.
