Mac was born September 11, 1941 in Cushing, OK, to Willard A. and Ruth Irene (Leach) McVay. He grew up in Cushing and graduated from Cushing High School in 1959. After graduation Mac joined the U.S. Navy and served his country from 1959 to 1965. After Mac was honorably discharged in 1965 he returned home to Cushing and fell in love with a young lady by the name of Jan McVay that would soon become his lovely bride. They were married on February 4, 1966 in Cushing. They made their home in Cushing where Mac was working for Kerr-McGee Pipeline until its closure in 1970. Mac then began employment with City Service Pipeline until he applied and was accepted in to the 31st OHP Academy. Upon graduation from the Academy Mac was stationed in Shattuck, Ok, from 1973 to 1975. He transferred to Perry in 1975 where he finished out his career as a state trooper, serving his state for 25 years. Mac was also very active in the VFW here in Perry serving as Commander for a period of time.
April 12, 1966 on Easter Sunday, Mac gave his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized into the Church of Christ. He and Jan have been members of the Perry Church of Christ since 1975. Mac served in the capacity first as a Deacon and then as an Elder in which he remained until his health began to fail him. He loved reading the Bible and many scriptures were hidden in his heart.
