Richard (Dick) Overholt of Stillwater, died February 12 at Integris Hospice House of OKC. Dick suffered a massive stroke while outside gardening on February 2.
Dick was the youngest of Jesse and Ora’s seven children, born in 1942 and raised in Stillwater. He graduated OSU with an Animal Science degree in 1965. He remained close to Stillwater highschool classmates throughout his life.
Dick married Marjorie (Nix) in 1964 at the First United Methodist Church. They started married life in Stillwater, and moved 8 times in their 60 plus years of marriage, including Arkansas, Virginia, Kansas and California. They returned to Stillwater in 1998. Dick primarily worked in Ranching/Farming and also worked multiple decades as a Stock Broker & Commodities Trader while farming In Kansas. Most recently, he ran cattle on his 625 acres south of Stillwater on the Cimarron river. He was a member of Methodist Men, Knife & Fork, and volunteered at Our Daily Bread.
Dick’s cremains will be placed in the FUMC memorial garden columbarium. A celebration of Life service will be held at the Stillwater First United Methodist Church on April 18th at 2 PM, at 400 W 7th, Stillwater OK 74074.
Dick was preceded in death by brother Jess and sisters Leona, Gene and Beverly. He is survived by brothers Darrel (Stillwater) and William (Springfield MO). Dick and Marjorie’s three children made it to Oklahoma to see their dad before his death. Richard (Rick) traveled from Morro Bay CA, Trenton (Trent) from Manhattan Beach CA, and Shelley Overholt-Thiesen from Brainerd MN. Their respective spouses Colleen, Melissa and Dale Ray have been a great support to Marge during the weeks before and following Dick’s death. Grandchildren are Chase and Cole Overholt, Bryer (wife Cassidy), Bridger and Oakley Thiesen, and Jesse Merle, Mabry and Walker Overholt; great granddaughter is Beckett Thiesen.
