Richard Wayne Barnett, a Perry resident, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 in the V.A. Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 60 years. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Perry, OK. Richard"s family will be greeting family and friends at a celebration of his life from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2014 in the Holiday Inn Express" Dining Hall, Perry, OK. Richard will be buried in the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, OK in a private family burial. The son of the late Earnest Richard Barnett and Carolyn Belle (Acey) Barnett, Richard was born on April 29, 1953 in Seattle, WA. While growing up, Richard"s family moved frequently, leading him to Texas, Kentucky, Idaho and eventually Oklahoma. He graduated from Morrison High School in 1971. Following high school, Richard entered into the United States Marine Corps where he served until May of 1974. Richard was united in marriage to Andrea Sue Center on December 24, 1990 in Lefors, Texas. Richard worked various jobs in construction, from welding, building cabinets and even concrete work. He will be remembered as a man that was a jack-of-all-trades. Richard loved riding motorcycles with the Vietnam Veterans while raising money to help sick and underprivileged children. He also loved playing golf with his friends. Survivors include his wife Andrea Center-Barnett of Sallisaw, OK; five brothers and sisters, Thersa Williams and her husband Paul of Red Rock, OK, David Barnett and his wife Carolyn of Ponca City, OK, Kenneth Barnett and his wife Linda of Perry, OK, Cynthia Bohnstedt of Perry, OK, and Paul Barnett and his wife Suzy of South Fork, CO; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Dennis Bohnstedt.
