Rick Brewer

Joe Richard Rick Brewer, age 50, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, went home to be in the arms of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the Stillwater Medical Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Rick was born on September 3, 1958 in Lake Charles, LA to Willis Armin and Gerre Sue (Shade) Brewer. Rick was the second of five children. His siblings are Charley Franklin Brewer of Idaho, Terry Len Brewer of Tulsa, OK, Gerre Willette Brown and her husband Billy of Midland, TX and Ethel Lorene (Lori) Brewer of Stillwater, OK.
He married his wife, Cecilia Jo Stephens on September 16, 1988 at Okmulgee Crosstown Pentecostal Church, with Brother Willis Baldridge officiating. Rick and Cecilia raised her daughter, Tessa, who Rick claimed as his own. In 2005, Rick and Cecilia adopted their grandson, Jacob Floyd Robnett. Rick also has a granddaughter, Jaden Rylee Bracken of Stillwater.
Rick finished his education in Carney, Oklahoma where he also worked as an apprentice plumber for some time. He later did home repair and restoration for Jim Bracken out of Sapulpa, OK where he learned to fix just about anything there was. He received his Journeyman Plumbers License in 1990 while living in Sand Springs, OK, and worked as a licensed plumber in the Tulsa area most of his adult life before moving to Stillwater in 1995. In Stillwater he worked for Oklahoma State University until 1997, when he suffered a severe back injury, forcing him to be placed on permanent disability.
Throughout his life and career Rick has been known, loved and cherished in many roles expert plumber, home repairman, and Mr. Fix-it. He loved his family and his church, was a devout Christian who never tired of hearing and talking about his Lord.
Rick was a long time member of Hosanna Assembly of God in Stillwater.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife, Cecilia of the home. He is also survived by his daughter, Tessa Robnett and husband Billy of Cushing, OK; his son / grandson Jacob Robnett and granddaughter Jaden Bracken. Also surviving are his brothers Charley Brewer of Idaho, Terry Brewer of Tulsa, and his sisters Gerre Brown and husband Billy of Midland, TX., and Lori Brewer of Stillwater, Howard and Betty Anderson of Stillwater and his grandfather, Dick Shade and wife Lorene of Tulsa also survives.
Funeral Services for Joe Richard Rick Brewer, 50, of Stillwater, OK will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home with Pastor Leroy Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Tuskegee Cemetery, Okemah, OK. There will be a visitation on Sunday September 14, 2008 from 2:00pm until 6:00pm at Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home, 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, OK.
