Rick McCoy, a long time Stillwater resident died Friday, June 4, 2010 in Stillwater, Ok. at the age of 62. Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater, Oklahoma and will be held in Perkins on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Firstborn with Brother Scott Heddleston and Brother Roger Lane officiating. Burial will follow in the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Ok.
The son of Paul and Grace McCoy,Rick was born in rural Tryon, Ok on June 30, 1947. Rick was raised in Agra and later became a painting contractor in Stillwater, where he painted for over 40 years; this was a trade he learned and shared with his dad and brothers. After retiring from painting, he started a residential construction business, Homes by the Real McCoy, building in Stillwater and Perkins. He also worked as a journeyman carpenter on many high rise buildings in Oklahoma City, Indiana, Lanai and Maui, Hawaii. Rick was a founding member of the Perkins Church of the Firstborn where he was a loving brother and a cornerstone of the church loved by everyone. Rick was an active member of the Elks Lodge # 1859. He volunteered annually at the Blazathon. He was also a member of the Stillwater Hot Rod Association, winning many trophies with his 30 Ford, five window, red coupe. He loved the car show days with his buddies, especially with his best friend, Rick Houck. Rick met his wife Barbara in the Dunkin Theater. It was a special 25cent night. They married 9 weeks later in Gallatin, Tennessee, August 8, 1964 lasting 45 years and 10 months. Rick was a very special man, helping anyone he felt he could. He quoted often, to have friends, you have to first be one. He was a true friend to many. A wonderful husband, father, papa and uncle. Many said everyone should have an Uncle Rick.
He is survived by wife Barbara of the home. A daughter and son Vicki and Robert Henington of Stillwater. A son and daughter Mike and Adrian McCoy of Ft. Worth, Texas., six grandchildren Ashley, Luke, Adam and Adrian of Stillwater, Ryan and Jeremy of Ft. Worth, two brothers Carl McCoy and his wife Susan, Al McCoy and his wife Betty, three sisters Wanda Toland, Pauline Harmon and Ruth McCoy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Grace McCoy and three brothers Johnie McCoy, Bob Toland and Clayton Harmon.
He will always be close in our hearts and forever remembered in love.
