Rita Dawn Gerry, 81, of Perry, OK, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Stillwater Medical Center in Stillwater, OK. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Perry.
A Celebration of Rita’s life will be held in the Chapel at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home in Perry at 7PM on Friday, February 9, 2018. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the spring in Raymond, Maine, were she and her husband lived a large part of their lives. Rita was born April 21, 1936 in East Baldwin, ME, to James Arthur & Gertrude (Boothby) Warren. She was raised in East Baldwin area where she attended elementary school and graduated from Standish High School. Later in 1955, she and Ivan Vernon Gerry were married March 12, 1955 and made their home in East Baldwin. They were blessed with three wonderful children, Craig Ivan, Dawn Lee, and Brenda.
Her hobbies and interests included knitting, gardening, and reading. Those dearest to her heart were her children and grandchildren, and all of her animals. She would always seem to get a laugh or chuckle when sharing stories of her cheerleading as a child or riding horses. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her son, Craig Ivan Gerry and wife Deborah of Solon, ME; two daughters, Dawn Lee Pennington and husband William Ray of Perry, OK, and Brenda King and husband Mike of Perry, OK, as well; six grandchildren, James Gerry and wife Raquel of Webbs Mills, ME, Joshua Foster and wife Stephanie of Oklahoma City, OK, Jeremiah Foster of Stillwater, OK, Robert King and wife Amanda of Perry, OK, Josey Nichole Whiteley and husband Chance of Stillwater, OK, and Alexia Shannon Pennington of Perry, OK; eight great-grandchildren, Jacob Foster, Jaxon Foster, Emily Foster, Joseph Warren, Isabella King, Kellen Whiteley, Brooke Gerry, and Kesley Gerry; one brother, Donnie Warren and wife Ginnie of Buxton, Maine.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ivan in 2008; her parents; five brothers, Roland, Alton, Gordon, Rodney, Harold; and two sisters, Winona and Beverly.
