Robert (Bob) Dee Brown, 77, of Kingwood, Texas passed away at his family home after a hard-fought battle with cancer on October 18, 2021.
Bob was born November 12, 1943 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Mary Louise and Floyd Brown. He received a Bachelor of Science in History from the University of Oklahoma in 1966 where he was a scholarship athlete and served as the Team Manager for the football team. This is when he cemented his life-long love of the Sooners. His management career started in Ponca City with TG&Y Stores, and his decades long retail career also took him to Utah, California, Illinois, and Kansas before returning to his home-state of Oklahoma. He retired in 2009.
In retirement he enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Bob cherished his family and was always his children’s and grandchildren’s biggest fan and most ardent supporter. It was always Christmas for Robert – from Hallmark Movies to endless decorations, there was never enough to celebrate the joy of the season. Bob was a member of Kingwood Christian Church, and previously served as the Property Chair.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two siblings, Mary Beth Allen and Floyd Brown II. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Irma, their three children, Rob Brown of Bozeman, Montana, Chris (and Paty) Brown of Walker, Louisiana, and Cathy (and Brian) Gill of Kingwood, Texas. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Milo Brown of Bozeman, Montana, and Ainsley, Avery and Andrew Gill of Kingwood, Texas. He leaves behind a sister, Jeannie Kammiller of Houston, TX, and his Stillwater family, Wilma Wehr-Hiatt (and Butch), Jodie (and Stan) Kennedy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held at Dighton Marler Funeral Home Sunday, October 24th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Robert’s life will be celebrated in a grave-side service on Monday, October 25th at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
