Robert Brocaw

Robert Brocaw, 87, died June 11, 2007, at Golden Oaks Village in Stillwater, Ok. Robert was born June 14, 1919 to Roy and Swannie Brocaw in Fontana, Kansas. His family lived in Paola, KS for a few years where he attended elementary school, and then moved to a farm southwest of Fontana. He graduated from Fontana High School, and continued to farm. Later in years he was married and had a daughter and a son. This marriage ended in divorce. Robert served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army 342 nd Infantry Regiment in the Philippines during WWII and then as a Commissary Steward on Luzon. After his overseas service, he was in the U.S. Army Standby Reserve and received an honorable discharge in 1953. In 1967 while working at the Osawatomie State Hospital as a refrigeration and air conditioning technician, he met and married Mary Stucker. In 1976, they moved to Stillwater, OK to be near family.
He is predeceased by his wife, Mary; his parents; son Chuck Brocaw and grandsons Trent, Christopher and Brandon Brocaw; a brother, Blaine Brocaw; and sister, Freda Johnson. His survivors include his daughter Beverly and her family; step-daughter Sharon Whitney of Stillwater, OK and her family and granddaughter Mle Caudle and family. Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 15, at Osawatomie Cemetery, Osawatomie, KS Graveside services are under direction of Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home of Stillwater, OK.
