Robert “Don” Donald Laramore, 86, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at his home in Glencoe, Oklahoma. Graveside service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021, 11:00am at Glencoe South Cemetery in Glencoe, Oklahoma.
Don was born on June 30, 1935, in Picher, Oklahoma to Robert and Lorena (Holderfield) Laramore. He grew up in the town of Picher and graduated from Picher High School in 1953. He then attended North Eastern A&M and graduated in 1955. He married Joy Hesser on July 17, 1975, in Paris, Texas.
Don loved to travel to Colorado, Arkansas and New Mexico. He enjoyed having his family around him, talking and looking at classic cars, listening to music, especially country, watching sports and playing with his cats. His first job was a postman in Picher, Oklahoma. He moved on to working for Oklahoma Testing Lab, then worked at the Sooner Power Plant south of Ponca City for Shepherd Engineering and later became a project specialist for PSI in Oklahoma City. His projects included work on the Will Rogers, Cimarron, Sulfur, and Indian Nation Turnpikes. Don was a member of the First Methodist Church of Glencoe and loved spending time with his church family.
Don is preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Randy Hesser and Rick Hesser.
He is survived by his wife Joy Laramore, his children, Donnie Laramore, Patty Rogers and husband Steve, Sandy Williams and husband David, David Laramore, Dayna Kinder and husband Paul, Richard Bell and Wife Cindy, Walker Bell and daughter-in-law, Donna Hesser. He is also survived by his sisters, Beulah Thompson and Cindy Brown; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
