Sally Kay (Loula) Kitchen, 71, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Hillcrest South Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Sally was born July 4, 1946 in Perry, Oklahoma to Henry and Margaret Loula. She grew up in Perry and graduated from Perry High School in 1964. Sally was a hairdresser in Perry before moving to Enid in 1975 where she worked for Maupin Ford Tractor and Bankers Life Insurance Company. In 1993 she moved to Broken Arrow and was employed with State Farm Insurance Company for 23 years until her retirement in September 2016.
Sally loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and faithfully supported Christian ministries. She was an incredibly generous person and more than anything she loved buying gifts, snacks, and goodies to share with her family and friends. She took great pleasure in doing things for others, most especially preparing Halloween candy for the neighborhood kids and passing out Christmas gifts to her family and friends.
Sally was passionate about caring for animals and pets. Throughout her life she adopted many homeless dogs and cats and took great joy in caring for the wildlife in her yard, feeding and watering the birds and squirrels daily.
Home was very important to Sally. Although she loved her job at State Farm, retirement was a special blessing that allowed her to spend more time at home. She was never bored and never ran out of something to do that she enjoyed. She loved to keep up with her favorite NASCAR drivers and football teams. (Go Pokes!) No matter where Sally lived, her home was always warm, comfortable, and welcoming.
Sally is survived by her sister, Mary Jane Branham of Perry, niece Dianne Jacobs of Edmond, great niece Traci Richardson of Perry and special furbaby, Buddy. Sally was very special to her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Living without her phone calls, the fun group text conversations, and just sharing everyday things will leave an especially large hole in our lives.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Gene Branham and great nephew Kyle Richardson.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Tulsa in care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home at 203 Fir, Perry, OK, 73077.
