Sammie Kay (McBride) Hurst, 80, of Mustang, OK passed on December 4, 2021. She was born on February 17, 1941, in Cushing, Oklahoma to Eddie and Tressie (Stuart) McBride. She and her six siblings grew up in the southeastern Payne County area and graduated from Ripley High School in the class of 1959. She spent most of her adult life in Oklahoma except for 13 years she spent in Colorado and moved back to Oklahoma in 1992 where she and Don moved to Mustang, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dighton Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.
She married Don Hurst on August 14, 1959, at the Lincoln County Courthouse. To this union three sons were added. Her most important jobs in life were those of wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She also worked as a cosmetologist and in sales. She loved playing games with her family and cooking for them, especially at holiday gatherings.
She is survived by her husband Don, her three sons, Brad and wife Jeannette, David and wife Jessica and Bryan Hurst. Along with grandchildren, Todd, Holly, Tyler and wife Taylor, and Kyle Hurst and fiancé Allissa McClain, and great-grandchildren Maddox and Marlowe and step grandchildren, Crystal Sanchez, and Robert Hall, as well as her siblings Jerry Clemens, and Kenneth Clemens and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by siblings RJ McBride, Fred McBride, Ruby (McBride) Hunt, Jimmy McBride.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Mt Hope Cemetery in Ripley, Oklahoma with Dr. Charles Cox officiating.
