Sandra Chambers Borbely

On July 17, 2021, Sandra’s spirit soared to Heaven. Since 1944 when she accepted Christ into her heart, this humble and gentle soul has ministered to and prayed for everyone she knew (and so many she never met). Sandra was a mighty prayer warrior and a spiritual giant, loving the whole world one person at a time. Known to all as an encourager and a comforter, her desire was to serve as an instrument of God’s peace, and everywhere she went, she was immediately loved and respected.

Sandra, in her quiet way, pursued excellence in every aspect and phase of her life from earning a teaching degree from Baylor University (’58) to performing as a soloist for the Houston Symphony Orchestra (working with, among other greats, Sir John Barbirolli) to raising 3 children with her husband of 57 years. Upon becoming homebound a couple of years ago, she directed her energies toward biblical studies and cheering on the SHS Pioneers, the OSU ‘Pokes, and her beloved Baylor Bears. In fact, the last event she watched before becoming bedfast was a recording she kept of the Bears’ stunning victory in the 2021 NCAA Championship game.

Sandra is preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey Borbely, and 3 beloved cats, Ricky, Katie, and Miss B, and 2 grand-kitties, Ellie and Oliver. She is survived by her children: Michael Borbely, San Jose, CA; Benjamin Borbely, Stillwater, OK; Jennifer White and husband, Michael White, Stillwater, OK. She leaves behind 2 loving Manx cats, Bunny and Nellie and 2 grand-kitties, Molly and Baxter.

Her remains will be placed alongside those of her husband in the columbarium of the First United Methodist Church of Stillwater. In lieu of gifts, please consider making a generous donation to Karmen Legacy Hospice of Stillwater who have done so much for this family over the last 11 years.
