Shirley Jean Battles passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, September 15, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was 74. Services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.
Shirley was born November 17, 1948, in Hotchkiss, Colorado to William Grayson Watts and Celia Mae (Gaither) Watts. She grew up in the Tryon area. When visiting the Stillwater Mill, Shirley unbeknownst to her met the man she would fall in love with and marry. That chilly night she saw a handsome man wearing a coat and decided to join him in it. She wrapped her arms around Alvin and never let go. Shirley introduced Alvin to her love of Colorado, a place they would visit often throughout the years. Together they raised three children, Diana, Chris, and Teri in their Stillwater home. Shirley was blessed with the ability to stay at home with their children. Shirley appreciated having fun, there were water fights, singing and dancing. She found a love in making cakes for special occasions, her favorite being the wedding cakes. Shirley loved her family and was happiest when spending time with them. Spoiling her grandbabies and great grandbabies was her favorite thing to do and made her happier than she ever thought possible.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin of the home; three children, Diana Lozier and husband Mike of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Christopher Battles and wife Chandra Battles of Checotah, Oklahoma, and Teri Bischoff and husband Timothy of Yukon, Oklahoma; four sisters, Barbara Gabrish and husband Pat, Trish Langley and husband Danny, Marilyn Gay, Rowena Gottfried and husband Ronnie; two brothers, Randy Watts, and Edward Watts and wife Rhonda; grandchildren, Chelsie Inskeep and husband Brett, Erikah Pendleton and husband Adam, Grayson Bischoff, Rylee Stowers and husband Levi, Preston Bischoff and girlfriend Ashley Matson; great-grandchildren, Madi, Hayden, Emery, Bentley, Hudson, Paisley, Reece, Tucker, Miles, and Astro.
