Stephen “Steve” Ray Cruzan was born on May 20th, 1951, to Eva Bernice and Lee Cruzan in Chickasha Oklahoma. Steve graduated Tuttle High School in 1969 and graduated Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor in Science in Agriculture in 1974. Steve married Tamara “Tammy” Cruzan on October 13th, 1974, in Tuttle OK.
Steve lived in Stillwater for a majority of his life where he enjoyed being a husband and dad, and though he would probably never admit it out loud, he loved being grandpa and great grandpa more. “Being a grandpa means I can spoil them and send them home” Steve said. He lived life to the fullest and spent his time fishing, tinkering around the shop, watching old westerns and anything John Wayne, playing golf with the guys, and ending a warm summer day with an ice-cold Bud Light. He took pride in his kids and grandkids teaching them how to work hard for what you have, to love every minute of every day, and to never take one single thing for granted.
Steve passed away on November 18th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He was 73 years young. He is survived by his; 4 children, Rachel Buchtel, April Donovan, Daniel Cruzan, and Stephenie Harrison and husband Randal; 12 grandkids, Breck Harrison, Sheylir and Nick Lusk, Logan Zachare, Levi and Lindy Zachare, Caleb and Kamri Sigrist, Kolbey and Abigail Long, Kenley Harrison, Kreg Harrison, Zoey and Landon Miner, Savanah Zachare, Kayleigh Hays, And Mayzie Harrison; 6 great grandkids, Grayson Payton, Aiden Payton, Camilla Harrison, Colson Lusk, Landon Zachare, and Layne Miner; 3 sisters, Wanada Klippel, Joy Hardesty, and Lora Collins; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and all of his lifelong friends.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Tammy Cruzan; mother Eva Bernice Cruzan; Father Lee Cruzan; sisters Betty Hildebrand, Ava Cummings, Peggy Parish; brother David Arthur “D.A.” Cruzan; and one great granddaughter Zyla Miner.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Friday November 22nd at 2:00pm at Dighton Marler Funeral Home and followed by a graveside service at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater OK. Visitation will be held Thursday 9:00am - 8:00pm.
