Susan Keel

Susan Marie Keel, 88, passed from this life on Saturday, March 7, 2015 in Stillwater, OK. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater with Pastor Henry Siems officiating.
Susan was born in Sunset, Kansas on October 9, 1926 to Joseph and Susan (McCoy) Hejduk. She grew up and started school in Kansas. Susan and her family moved to Perry, OK and later to Stillwater. Susan met the love of her life, James A. Keel, and married him on July 24, 1949 in Stillwater, OK. To this union, they had two daughters, Carolyn and Diana, and a son Ervin.
Susan was a loving and caring wife and mother. She was a housewife and worked for the Stillwater School system for a brief period. Susan loved spending time outdoors. She was an avid fisherwoman, catching gigantic catfish on her rod and reel. Susan also enjoyed camping and traveling in her recreational vehicle. She was an active member in the Stillwater Boat Club and the Stillwater Nazarene Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Susan is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James A. Keel; one brother, Andrew Hejduk; one son, Ervin Keel, and one granddaughter, Dana Pour.
Susan is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn Ropers and husband, Irvin, and Diana Jacobs and husband, Eddy; two siblings, Salina Prothe and husband, Leland of Paoli, KS and Jacob Brewer and wife, Effie of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren, Jim Ropers, Leann Ropers, Kevin Ropers, Shilynn Ropers, Crystal Pour, James Pour, Bradley Keel, and James Ives and one great grandchild, Dustin Bickell.
