Thelma J. McCorgary , age 74 of Stillwater, passed from this life on October 13, 2009 in Oklahoma City, Ok. Wake services will be held 7:00 p.m., Friday at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday at St. Franis Xavier Catholic Church, Stillwater. Father Ken Harder and Deacon Tom Haan will officiate. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m., Saturday at St. Marys Cemetery, Winfield, Kansas. Thelma was born in Bartlesville, Ok on August 28, 1935 to the late Roy and Frances Margaret (Crawford) Adams. Thelma attended school and graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1953. Thelma married John McCorgary on June 30, 1955 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Arkansas City, KS. She worked as a cook at the Shamrock Restaurant in Arkansas City for 27 years, moving to Stillwater in 2002 to be closer to her family. Thelma loved to cook, sew, read, and garden. She also enjoyed making, giving away and eating pumpkin pie, playing games, working puzzle book. Thelma like to play Yahtzee with her friends. Her children take pride in having had the Best Mom in the world.
Thelma is survived by her husband of 54 years, John McCorgary Jr of the home; one son, Daniel McCorgary and wife, Pamela of Arkansas City, KS; Daughters, Mary Kelly and husband, Sean of Stillwater, OK; Jeanie Munce and husband, Trevor of Sioux Falls, SD; Janet Rodriquez and husband, Terry of Wichita, KS, her brother, Harold Adams of Bartlesville, OK, her sisters; Frances Vermeire and husband Marcel of Dewey, Ok., Ruth Hallman of Arkansas City, Ks., Dorothy Nuss of Arkansas City, Ks., Laura Tharp of Linton, In, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son John McCorgary, sisters Clara Hall, Hazel Adams, Virginia Conard, brothers Francis Adams, Roy Adams, Henry Adams and George Adams.
