Vance Lee Covey

July 7, 1962 — August 4, 2011

Vance Lee Covey, 49, of Morrison, passed from this life on Thursday, August 4th, 2011 in a tragic car accident. Services have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home and will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the Morrison Christian Church in Morrison, Oklahoma.
Vance was born on July 7, 1962 to Virgil Covey and Ina Vanderpool in Harper, Kansas. He was raised and attended schools in the Harper area. Following graduation, Vance went to work as a combine operator. Vance lost his leg in a farming accident, but he never let it slow him down. He would learn to walk again with a prosthetic leg and was right back behind the wheel of a combine. He spent the majority of his life in the agricultural industry. Later on in his life, Vance held jobs as a painter and roofer.
Vance was a member of the Morrison Christian Church. His hobbies included spending time with family and friends, going fishing, spending time outdoors, and he had a fascination with both giving and receiving tattoos. He was an extremely talented tattoo artist. Vance Covey was a man who knew how to enjoy life. He never let what others would consider a "disability" stop him from doing things that amazed his friends and family. He never allowed his leg injury or any of the numerous other injuries he endured hold him back from living his life, his way. Vance lived his life and never wasted a moment. He was the life of the party who could be described as a practical Joker, a hard worker, a wonderful brother, and a loyal friend. To know Vance was to love Vance. His adventurous spirit and handsome smile will be missed by all who knew him. His legacy will live on through his children and nephew, as well as the wonderful memories he made over the past 49 years.
He is survived by: three sons: Jeremy Casper of Attica, KS, Joey Covey and Troy Covey, both of Norman, OK. One daughter: Vanessa Covey of Norman, OK. His Parents: Ina Spade of Stillwater, OK and Virgil Covey of Harper, KS. A sister: Bilanda Burch of Morrison, OK. A special nephew and friend: Chance Burton of Morrison, OK. Five grandchildren: Chloe, Alexis, Brynlee, Cayson, and Molly.
Vance is preceded in death by his grandparents: Casilda and Haynes Vanderpool and Neva and Kenneth Covey.
