Vilas Howard Robinson, Sr.

Vilas Howard Robinson, Sr. passed away at his home in Perkins, OK, on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was 71. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater, OK.

Visitation will be 1PM to 6PM Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater. Family will greet guests from 4PM to 6PM. Funeral services are scheduled for 1PM Monday, April 23, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Perkins. Rev. Larry Pope will officiate. Pallbearers will be Vilas Robinson, II, Clint Robinson, Jermey Custer, Bill Robinson, Sr., Bill Robinson, Jr., and Hunter Robinson. Interment will follow at Osage Cemetery in Osage, OK.

Vilas was born January 25, 1947 in Hobbs, NM, to Samuel and Marybell (Perry) Robinson. His family moved to Hallett, Ok, when Vilas was a young boy. He graduated from Cleveland High School in 1964. After graduation he joined the Navy where he served for four years and was honorable discharged in 1968.

On December 14, 1975 Vilas married Peggy Byrom in Hallett, Ok. They were blessed with 42 wonderful years, three children and several grandchildren, and countless memories. Vilas worked in law enforcement for many years. Serving in the Cleveland police department, Barnsdall police department, Pawnee county, and Osage county Sheriff departments. He also worked as a trapper for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife department that he enjoyed very much. He had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. This passion is his legacy that has already began to spread to his children and grandchildren, and will continue on in future generations. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Vilas is survived by his loving wife Peggy of the home; two sons, Vilas Robinson, II and wife Stephanie of Stillwater, OK, and Clint Robinson and wife Jennifer of Perkins, OK; one daughter, Michelle Custer and husband Jeremy of Morrison, OK; seven grandchildren, Emily Robinson, Hunter Robinson, Savannah Robinson, Easton Robinson, Jace Hanan, Jadlynne Hanan, and Austin Bledsoe; two brothers, Bill Robinson and wife Carolyn of Hallett, OK, and Author Robinson and wife Larraine of Canton, OH; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
