W. Keith Thomas, age 70 , retired Stillwater attorney, passed away Monday morning, September 21, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. His memorial services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon, September 25, 2009 at the Sunnybrook Christian Church with Paul Anderson officiating. Mr. Thomas was born on May 5, 1939 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the son of Harley Owen and Reeda (Fellows) Thomas. He grew up in Stillwater and graduated from Stillwater High School in 1957. He attended Oklahoma State University prior to attending and graduating from Law School at the University of Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He practiced as a attorney in Stillwater from 1968 until 2008 when he retired. He was a member of the Oklahoma and Payne County Bar Association, Kappa Sigma Fraternity @ OSU and Lawyers Helping Lawyers. He was known for his humor and could make people laugh. He is survived by two sons, Steve Thomas and wife Kathy of Stillwater, Scott Thomas and wife Neilly of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Shannon Hiner and husband Matt of Stillwater; one brother, Owen Thomas and wife Anne of Stillwater, one sister, Mary Sue Hill of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren, Evan Thomas, Claire Thomas, Ellie Hiner, Landry HIner, Blakely Hiner, Henry Thomas and Lucy Thomas. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bill Thomas; and two sisters, Carolyn Thomas and Barbara Smiank. Those who wish may make memorials to Judith Karmen Hospice in his memory.
