Wallace Duane Anderson, 93, passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Claremore Veteran’s Center in Claremore, Oklahoma. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Dighton Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater is entrusted with arrangements.
Wallace was born on February 7, 1927 in Dawson, Oklahoma to Thomas and Gladyst Anderson. Wallace had a unique sense of humor and was not enamored with new modern ways of doing things. He preferred doing things the old-fashioned way. He was a Seabee serving in the Navy. He was an excellent cook and passionate about growing vegetables, flowers and plants. He made jewelry and once made a ring for Roy Clark. He loved woodworking, building and working on house projects, ballroom dancing and square dancing. He was a dental technician for many years before retirement. He was active in his grandsons Alex and Corey’s lives as they were growing up. Wallace married the love of his life, Doris in 1998.
He is preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Joe Wise, brothers Howard Anderson and Gene Anderson as well as his sister Juanita Pennington.
He is survived by wife Doris, his children, Michael Anderson and wife Nancy, Mary Ryan and Christina Werelus, his grandsons, David McCoy, Nicholas Anderson, Corey Werelus and Alex Werelus, his granddaughters Diane Michael, Becky McCoy and Leanne Sveen, his great grandchildren, Nora Sveen, Luke Sveen, Vincent McCoy, Isabelle Marshall, Garrett Marshall, Travis McCoy and Joey Michael.
