Wanda Jane Gan, a Glencoe resident, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014 in the Stillwater Medical Center, Stillwater, OK at the age of 78 years.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater, OK and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 20, 2014 in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Stillwater, OK with Pastor Irvin Haken officiating.
The daughter of the late Jesse Earl Shirley and Stella (Redfern) Shirley, Wanda was born on October 13, 1935 in Mehan, OK.
Wanda was united in marriage to William Emery in 1953 and to this union two daughters, Nancy and Elizabeth, were born. They made their home in Ponca City until they divorced and Wanda moved to Stillwater with her daughters. While living in Stillwater she worked at Skeens Cafeteria. Wanda and the girls later moved to Oklahoma City where Wanda worked two jobs to support her family. They eventually moved back to Stillwater.
Years later she met Glen Gan and the two were married in 1975 and they eventually made their home north of Glencoe in 1978. Glen remodeled and built homes for a living and Wanda began working with him until he retired. They loved having their children and grandchildren come out to their home. There was plenty of room for them all to play, fish in the pond, or set under their favorite shade tree.
Wanda is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Asbill and Elizabeth Roberson; two sisters, Eugenia Cavett and Earlene Scott; one brother, Austin Shirley; 22 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Glen and one brother, Ronald Shirley, one daughter, one son, and one grandson.
