Wanda Lee Babcock, 88, of Stillwater passed from this life to her eternal home in the arms of her savior on Saturday, January 8, 2022 in Stillwater. Funeral services have been entrusted to Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.
Wanda was born on June 10, 1933, to Neil and Evia Houston in Alva, Oklahoma. She was the eldest daughter of seven children. She grew up on the family farm in northwest Oklahoma graduating from Alva High School in the class of 1951. She then furthered her education at the Ponca City Business College, completing her degree in 1952. She then worked in business as an office administrator for many years, at the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education for 24 years in Stillwater before retiring. Wanda married Wesley James Babcock on December 4th, 1954, in Bell, California. From this union two sons were born, Frank and Mark. Throughout the years, Wanda was a long time member of the University Heights Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Frank Babcock of Lake Villa, Illinois and Mark Babcock and wife Leah of Ada, Oklahoma.
She is also survived by siblings Janice Wardrop and husband J.D. and Sam Houston; sisters-in-law JoAnn Houston and Maxine Houston; and cousin, LaVonna Johansen. Along with grandchildren Katie Jo Stephens and husband Chris, Conner Elizabeth Babcock, and Wesley ”Cord” Babcock; and great-grandchildren Avery, Weslyn, and Sage, whom she loved spending time with. As well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Houston, husband Wesley Babcock, siblings Alan Houston, Leslie “Corky” Houston, Judy Miller, and Sue McPherson, daughter-in-law Susan Babcock, and grandson Tyler Houston Babcock.
Visitation will be Friday, January 14, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM with the family greeting guests from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Dighton-Marler Funeral Home Chapel, 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, OK 74075. Interment will be at the Lexington cemetery in Lexington Oklahoma on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 10:30 AM . Funeral services will also be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 4:00 PM at the Dighton-Marler Funeral Home Chapel Stillwater, Oklahoma with Pastor John Bugg of University Heights Baptist Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family would be honored for donations to be made to the University Heights Baptist Church.
