Wayne Mangold

May 21, 1951 — September 14, 2013

On September 14, 2013 Wayne Mangold, 62 of Stillwater was called home by the Lord following a motorcycle accident that occurred on August 26 in Stillwater. Wayne fought a courageous and fierce battle towards recovery, but ultimately passed peacefully from this life with his loving family right by his side. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel. Celebration of Waynes life will be held following the service at the Stillwater Moose Lodge. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.

Eldon Wayne Mangold was born on May 2, 1951 in Hominy, OK to Richard Lee and Ruby J. (Nichols) Mangold. Waynes family relocated to Perkins, OK, where he grew up and attended school. In the late 70s, Wayne married and moved to Stillwater where he began a 30+ year career with the City of Stillwater Electric Utilities Department. Wayne started with the City as an electric lineman and had been promoted to the title of Electrical Distribution Crew Chief by the time of his retirement in 2009.

Wayne Mangold loved life and his retirement gave him ample opportunity to continue his lifelong passions for riding his motorcycle, fishing, camping, crafting beautiful stained glass artwork, and he also loved to play golf and garden. Family was always his first priority and he spent many years coaching all three of his girls softball teams. Wayne was never happier than when he was surrounded by his family, and he especially valued spending time with his three beautiful daughters.

He was an easygoing guy who loved making others smile and he had an infectious laugh. Wayne was funny, outspoken, and you never had to wonder where you stood with him. He was as caring as he was stubborn and as ornery as he was loving. Wayne Mangold was a proud and protective father, a loving son, a dedicated grandpa, a caring brother, a hardworking employee, and a loyal and honest friend. He will be missed by those of us fortunate enough to call him a friend.

Wayne was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alexis Wolff; and his dog and loyal companion, Rockie. Wayne is survived by his parents, Richard and Ruby Mangold of Perkins; three daughters, Amanda Page and husband, Bobby of Stillwater, Sarah Wolff and husband, Erik of Moore, Angela McDonald and husband, Brian of Yukon; five grandchildren, Ashlynn, Bailey, Logan, Connor, and Zachary; a brother, Danny Mangold; and two sisters, Jana Nelson, and Rose Mangold. He was also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
