William Carl Marg, 65, of Stillwater passed from this life on Thursday, Jan 29, 2015. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perkins and a service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, Feb 4, 2015 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel at 304 N. Main in Perkins. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb 3rd at Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perkins from 12pm to 6pm with the family greeting friends from 4pm to 6pm.
William was born on March 30, 1949 in Joplin, MO to George Carl Marg and Evelyn (Schuette) Marg. He attended school in Winfield, KS, graduating from St. Johns Academy in 1967. Following his high school graduation, William spent two years at St. Johns Junior College before enrolling at Tennessee Wesleyan College where he was pursuing a degree in chemistry.
In the early 1970s, William married Judith Ann Schweer and soon after, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he would serve his country honorably for the next 8 years working on nuclear submarines. During this time William welcomed the birth of his four children: Rachel, Carl, Hannah, and Jonathan. Following his discharge from the Navy, William spent the majority of his life working as a nuclear power contractor all over the nation. He resided for several years in the Cincinnati, Ohio area before returning to Missouri to be near his parents. In 2011 he relocated to Stillwater to be near his children and resided there until his passing.
William was a generous gentleman who had very strong convictions. He was very proud of his service in the Navy and remained very patriotic his entire life. He was an ideal neighbor who was always willing to lend a hand to those in need and he could usually be found in his garage working on his latest woodworking project or working in his yard. He considered himself to be a gourmet chef and he spent many evenings tweaking his recipes to achieve culinary perfection and the only thing he enjoyed more than cooking was consuming the meals that he prepared.
William Marg cared deeply for his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren when he was able and he will truly be missed by all who knew him.
William was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Marg; four children, Rachel Shipman of Stillwater, OK, Carl Marg of Lincoln, NE, Hannah Delaney and husband, Michael of OKC, OK, and Jonathan Marg of Covington, OK; three siblings, Eunice Brakebill, Richard Marg, and Pamela Marg-Warner. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Esther, Samuel, Gideon, Timothy, Kiara, and Phoebe Delaney, Jeremiah Pacula, Christopher and Noah Shipman.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Williams name to the Disabled American Veterans in care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home 5106 N. Washington. Stillwater, OK 74075.
