William Tennies

November 27, 1949 — February 16, 2025

Stillwater, Oklahoma

William Tennies, a man whose spirit intertwined with the great outdoors and the pulse of the logging industry, was born on November 27, 1949, in West Bend, Wisconsin to John Henry and Gertrude Agusta (Holl). He passed away unexpectedly at his home in Pawnee, Oklahoma, on Sunday, February 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy rich with memories and love.

Education, in those formative years, took place not only in classrooms but in the vast landscapes of his beloved Wisconsin, where he often sought solace and adventure.

After graduating, William served honorably in the United States Army, a chapter of his life marked by dedication and courage. Following his service, he immersed himself into the rhythms of American life, working diligently on farms and in factories throughout Wisconsin. Yet, it was in the logging industry that he discovered his true passion, a calling that allowed him to connect with nature and showcase the beauty of hard, honest work.

In 1982, seeking a deeper bond with family, William moved to Stillwater to be closer to his brother, Paul. The closeness he shared with his siblings painted his life with joy and camaraderie. He is survived by his brothers, Charlie Tennies (Lucy) of West Minister, Colorado, and Paul Tennies (Terry) of Red Rock, Oklahoma; his sisters, Marie Goodfellow (Gordon) of Bruce, South Dakota, and Rosie Leithen (Gary) of Cedarburg, Wisconsin. He held a special place in the hearts of his nieces, nephews, and extended family, all of whom he cherished deeply.

William's life was woven with the threads of hunting and fishing - passions that fed his soul and drew him into the embrace of nature. He was that kind, gentle man who had the ability to bring peace into the lives of those around him, fostering laughter and heartfelt conversations. He left an indelible mark on the hearts of many, through his warmth and an infectious zest for life.

As we remember William Tennies, we celebrate a life that was deeply connected to the environment he loved and the family that enriched him. While the world may feel his absence profoundly, his spirit will continue to resonate in the whispers of the trees he cherished, the rivers he fished, and the hearts of those who loved him.
